Business Professionals of America Melba Chapter succeeded in several realms at the recent Idaho State Leadership Conference. With 26 competitors, a Regional Vice President and a student running for state office, we came home with many accomplishments.
Competition topics varied from Computer Security and Prepared Speech to Economic Research Team and Presentation Management Team. Students had to place in the top three at the regional level to qualify for state competition. So when these 26 students were up against the best of the other 9 regions in the state, Melba had a great showing. The highest placers were Noah Besendorfer placing 7th in Computer Security and the Parliamentary Procedure Team placing 1st. The team will now go on to compete at the national level in Anaheim, CA in May.
The other success that was earned was by the student running for state office. After an extensive application, a panel interview, an introductory speech at Opening Session in front of over 1,350 students and a speech and impromptu question in front of state voting delegates, Zoe Daulton was slated as the new state president. She will serve with 3 other students from around that state for the incoming year. Zoe’s first responsibility will be to lead the team at state meetings and such at the National Leadership Conference in May.
Way to go Students!
