On the afternoon of Thursday, March 19, almost 20 career choices were presented to Melba High School students. Each student had the option of attending four sessions of their choice to further their knowledge on potential careers.

The Professional Technical Education teachers from the high school planned a career fair to expose students to potential options for future plans. The PTE department brought in professionals from around the valley representing health occupations, business, welding, Ag business, music professions, catering, entrepreneurship, several areas of fine arts and of course interview skills. The presenters provided excellent knowledge on each area they presented. The catering presenter even provided product samples.

According to Eric Forsgren, principal, “This was a worthwhile activity that the students found valuable. Even if it wasn’t necessarily a career that the student was interested in, there was something that was good to know given in each session.”

With class registration starting after spring break, the PTE department was hoping to expose students to the variety of elective choices that would vastly assist in furthering their knowledge for potential careers. For more information regarding class choices, contact Mr. Lenz, counselor, or any of the PTE teachers, Ms. Anderson, Mrs. Clark, Mrs. Lincoln, Mrs. Meyers, Mr. Silver, or Mrs. Stirm.
