Over the past two weeks, the students at Melba Elementary School have been studying biographies. Students have been learning how to research information from both media and text sources, organize the information, and place the information into various graphic organizers. Students then selected one biography in particular to research and present at the “Live Museum.” Students researched and then prepared a speech that included a hook line, 3 important facts, and a concluding sentence. After creating their speech, they designed a costume to represent their famous individual.
At the Live Museum, each student stood in a pose as a statue that would represent the qualities of their individual. They wore a red button and would begin presenting their speech when it was pushed. After concluding their speech, the student would return back to the motionless statue.
Students really enjoyed taking on the role of their unique individual. Thank you to all the student, staff, and parents who attended our Live Museum!
